Government and society of East Nusa Tenggara resign over the decision of the Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik about exiting Komodo National Park from the finalists the New Seven Wonders of Nature. The Komodo National Park is situated in the East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. The Head of Culture and Tourism Promotion of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Ubaldus Gogi, said the decision had been taken into account carefully so as not to be sorry.
“We take a positive course because it would have considered them,” said Ubaldus in Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara Province. But according to him, the flow of tourists into the Komodo Island will not decline, let alone stop altogether. Because the Komodo dragon is well known throughout the world.
Related to that decision, the Government of East Nusa Tenggara immediately stop the campaign to vote Komodo National Park that is currently underway at the exhibition arena in Kupang. At that location, the local government set up computers and the Internet to provide opportunities to citizens who will provide support to the Komodo National Park.
The Indonesian government withdrew Komodo National Park as the finalist of the New Seven Wonders of Nature because of decisions taken by organizers of the campaign, the New Seven Wonders of Nature Foundation, are considered unprofessional, inconsistent, and not transparent. The foundation in early December 2010 had agreed to Indonesia to host the declaration of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. However, they require Indonesia to pay $ 10 million us dollar license fee as the host of declaration and another 35 million us dollars as the cost of organizing the event declaration. Terms that are later rejected by the Indonesian government.
